Grin N' Bear It Inaugural Fundraising 5k

The Brewster Teachers' Association is spearheading an inaugural 5k walk/run on 10/25/25. Their goal is to raise scholarship money for future leaders.

Did you know that the BTA gives out end of year scholarships for BHS seniors who are pursuing a post secondary education? Did you know that this year, for the first time, you can help raise money to add to that scholarship fund?

The BTA’s new events coordinator, 4th grade Special Education teacher Kathryn Marchionno–who is a runner–and BTA President Paul George came up with the idea of a 5k run to kick off the year and the fundraising efforts.

“Anyone can sign up. You don’t have to run, you can walk or even bear crawl,” said George.

“You don’t even have to walk or run or crawl, you can just donate,” added Marchionno.

There are many local sponsors–from Stone Home Inspectors to Bill Henry’s Tree Service and Depot Wines & Liquors and Lia Honda of Brewster to Guardian Pet Services, Fit Body by Krista and Junk King to the NYSUT Runs.

“There has been an outpouring of support from our sponsors. All participants will get a shirt, a bag and a finishing medal,” said George.

The race will take place on October 25 at 10:00 at Electrazone Field in Brewster.
